Order Follows the Cards, Not the Filenames

This is the most common way a merge goes wrong. Your operating system sorts alphabetically, which puts page10.pdf before page2.pdf and scatters phone-scanned documents by timestamp rather than by content. Scanners sometimes number pages in reverse.

The merged file here is built strictly from the order the cards appear on screen. Drag them once, confirm the numbering, and the document is right — regardless of what the files happen to be called.

What Is Preserved — and What Is Not

The last two are worth stating plainly rather than burying. Bookmarks, form fields and annotations live in the document structure rather than on individual pages, so copying pages does not bring them along. For the overwhelming majority of merges — combining scans, reports, certificates or signed agreements — this makes no visible difference. If you are combining fillable forms and need the fields to keep working, a desktop PDF editor is the right tool.

Mixed Page Sizes Are Fine

Combining an A4 report with a US Letter form and a landscape spreadsheet export works exactly as you would hope: each page keeps its own dimensions. A PDF is not obliged to have uniform page sizes, and printers handle the mix by scaling to the paper in the tray. Testing confirmed a merged file containing 595×842, 1600×1200 and 842×595 point pages side by side, all intact.

Troubleshooting

The pages came out in the wrong order

Order follows the cards on screen, not the filenames. Drag them into place before merging, or use the arrow buttons.

One file was skipped

It is almost certainly password-protected or damaged. Open it in a PDF viewer, save an unprotected copy, and add that instead.

My page range took nothing

The range box turns amber when it selects zero pages — usually because the numbers are outside the document. Page numbers start at 1, and an empty box means “all pages”.

The merged file is large

That is expected: merging is lossless, so the result is roughly the sum of the inputs. If you need it smaller, run it through the PDF compressor afterwards.

Is there a limit on how many PDFs I can merge?

No. There is no file-count cap, no page cap and no size cap. Because the work happens on your device, memory is the only real constraint - and merging is far lighter work than compressing or converting, because nothing is re-processed.

Can I merge only certain pages from a file?

Yes, and this is where most mergers stop short. Each file has its own page-range box: enter something like 1-3, 7 and only those pages are taken from that document. It saves splitting a file first just to grab a couple of pages.

Can I change the order of the files?
